The origin of this song was a very strange experience for me that still haunts me years later. I was alone sitting on a river bank enjoying the twilight hours of a hot summer day watching the mighty river flow when I heard a voice say "My name is Aleanna." There was no one physically there! Somehow in a magic moment, the tragic love story of Aleanna was revealed to me, and I wrote it into a song. Was Aleanna a spirit that really drown in the river? Who knows. I've gone back many times over the years and have never heard from her again.
